Stroke Recovery

Sound and Light

I've noticed a variety of sound and light things since having a stroke. I'll use simple words because I ignored some technical terms thinking that didn't apply to me...when it did.

The Brain Explosion (technically Sensory Overload) Tips

Catch it quickly before it gets worse and lasts longer even if hiding away is annoying and you miss the one you love :( ;(
Sign with hands rather than talk. Point to brain and sign "explosion".
Touch heart and point at the one you love ;)
Let others know what you mean so you don't need to speak.
In my case my voice is one of the "trigger" sounnds.
Haven't suffered from sensory Overload?
Do sound annoy or tire you?
Be ready just in case.
Prepare. So you know what to do when you feel signs. So others know and understand.
Just in case. Because it could be one of the worst experiences of your life.
Be ready just in case.
I wasn't. So now I can warn others.
Just 30mins "rest" can be enough.
Best caught quickly.
Just like an aura migraine which I understand is similar.

Other Tips

Use headphones, somes off, sometimes on.
Hide in a dark, quiet place.
